The Mummy film franchise, which had Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in the lead, is finally getting a fourth entry after a long wait of 20 years. A fourth film, also featuring Brendan and Rachel going for another adventure, is releasing in 2028. Detailed information about the storyline for The Mummy 4 has not been revealed for now, except that Brendan and Rachel would reprise their roles as ‘Rick O’Connell’ and ‘Evelyn Carnahan,’ respectively.
The franchise was originally launched in 1932 with Karl Freund’s The Mummy. It continued with four more entries until 1955. The franchise got a reboot in 1959 with Terence Fisher’s The Mummy, followed by The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb, The Mummy’s Shroud, and Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb. However, Brendan and Rachel’s films built a different kind of fanbase, starting from their first entry in 1999. The reason was that it provided non-stop entertainment in a crisp runtime.
