Nancy Guthrie Kidnap, Ex-FBI Agent Warns Against Sheriff’s Clearing Of Tommaso Cioni As Suspect

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today Show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, was reportedly missing from her Tucson, Arizona, home since midnight on January 31, 2026 (ET). After a week-long investigation, the FBI shared photos of a masked person of interest, following which rumours were rife that Nancy’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, might be the individual seen in the footage. Notably, a journalist also named him a “prime suspect” in the abduction case. Amid that, the sheriff cleared him alongwith the entire Guthrie family of all charges, leading to reactions from ex-FBI agents and journalists.

Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos officially cleared Tommaso Cioni and all other members of Nancy Guthrie’s family as suspects in her disappearance on February 16, 2026 (ET). The sheriff’s department released a statement emphasising that they have been 100% cooperative in Nancy’s search process and are considered victims in the case. The clearance covers Nancy’s children, Savannah, Annie, and Camron Guthrie as well as their respective spouses, including Tommaso Cioni and Michael Feldman. The statement could be read as:

“To be clear…the Guthrie family – to include all siblings and spouses – has been cleared as possible suspects in this case. To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, but it is also cruel.
