Priyanka Chopra is one of the most talented actresses who established her foothold in both Bollywood and Hollywood. However, she also fell prey to nepotism. Yes, you read it right. She stepped into the acting world in the 2002 with the Tamil film, Thamizhan. Next year, in 2003, she made her Bollywood debut in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. In a recent interview, Priyanka recalled a difficult time in the Hindi film industry when favouritism cost her a project.
Priyanka Chopra recalled how she was removed from a project despite being officially on board
Recently, during a session at Harvard Business School, Priyanka recalled a moment when her male co-star visited her on the sets of Salaam-E-Ishq in 2007. While she expected the meetup to be a courtesy visit ahead of the shoot, it turned out to be gloomy for her. PeeCee recounted that back then, she was 22 years old and the project was a great deal to her. Priyanka shared that her co-star mentioned that she had been removed from the project. Hearing this, she felt sad and was in utter disbelief. She was quoted as saying:
“He goes, ‘The director gave you this movie by mistake. It was his mistake. This was always supposed to go to this other girl but we will do another one together, don’t worry about it. I just wanted to tell you myself.’ And he ate some food and left. At just 22, the film meant a great deal to her. “My heart just crushed and I was like, ‘I signed a contract. Like, what do you mean?’ But that’s how it was.”
