Actress Farida Jalal has revealed that she was approached for ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, but decided to opt-out when she discovered she was going to play Jaya Bachchan’s mother-in-law. Farida said she and Bachchan played the same age in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, so the audience wouldn’t have accepted her in the later role. The part eventually went to Sushma Seth.
