The couple received a lot of criticism for their marriage, and Hema was labelled as a homewrecker. Despite the high-profile criticisms, Hema Malini and Dharmendra continued to stand beside each other. Moreover, Dharmendra was careful to ensure that his wife gets all the comfort in her life, and something similar happened when Hema was pregnant with their first child, Esha.
When Dharmendra booked an entire hospital for Hema Malini during their daughter, Esha Deol’s birth
Hema Malini had hidden the news of her first pregnancy from her fans, and only her close friends and family members were aware of it. So, to minimise disturbance and ensure privacy, Dharmendra had booked a 100-room hospital only for his wife, Hema at the time of Esha’s birth. Hema Malini’s friend, Neetu Kohli had revealed this fact in an episode of the talk show, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, and said:
“When Esha was going to be born, nobody knew that Hema was pregnant so Dharam ji had booked the whole hospital for Esha. It was a nursing home with about 100 rooms. He booked all the 100 rooms for Esha to be born.”
