The highly publicised legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard in 2022 took the media by storm. More or less, everyone knew about it, and the trial got so popular that it was even released as a 3-episode documentary, Depp V Heard, on Netflix. Although Johnny Depp has been in the entertainment industry for over three decades now and has some of the major blockbusters to his name, but this trial gave him much limelight as well.
In March 2019, Depp sued Heard for defamation over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post. Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard, seeking USD 50 million in damages. In response, Heard filed counterclaims against Depp, seeking USD 100 million in damages.
