Boney Kapoor Opens Up About Why Sridevi Stepped Down From SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’, ‘She Wasn’t..’

Baahubali, the blockbuster film, starring Prabhas, Ramya Krishnan, Rana Daggubati and more, is a fan favourite. Each and every actor played their respective roles so well in the movie that if any kind of replacement were to take place, fans would not accept it wholeheartedly. However, did you know that the makers approached Bollywood’s first female superstar, Sridevi, for the role of ‘Sivagami’? Yes, you read it right. However, the director, SS Rajamouli, dropped her from the project for her high demands. Now, the late actress’s husband and film producer, Boney Kapoor, talked about the same and lashed out at the producer for creating a misunderstanding between Sridevi and SS Rajamouli.

Boney Kapoor reveals why Sridevi couldn’t be a part of Baahubali

In a recent episode of Game Changers, Boney Kapoor revealed why Sridevi didn’t appear as ‘Sivagami’ in the film, Baahubali. The film producer shared that SS Rajamouli was a big fan of Sridevi, and when the duo met, the director’s respect towards her increased. He mentioned that Sridevi didn’t work in the movie due to the confusion created by the producers. In fact, the film producer also revealed that the actress was offered a salary which was less than what she earned in English Vinglish. He was quoted as saying:

“The film with Rajamouli didn’t happen, but I still have his text saying he was a fan of Sridevi as an actor. She didn’t work in that film because of the confusion that was created by the producers. Rajamouli had come to our place and had a conversation about the film. When he went out of the room, the producers offered her less money than what she got for English Vinglish. She wasn’t a struggling actor; you’re getting mileage out of her. Why would I want my wife to do that?”
