Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai have both moved on in life, leaving their messy relationship behind them. However, this real-life incomplete love story of Bollywood has remained fresh in the minds of fans. Although neither of them has ever divulged much information about their former relationship and break-up, their colleagues who witnessed it firsthand have provided a lot of insight to the public. Recently, lyricist, Sameer Anjaan talked about Salman’s condition during the making of Tere Naam, fresh after his break-up from Aishwarya Rai.
Salman Khan would listen to the Tere Naam title track and cry, wanting a lyric to reach Aishwarya Rai
Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai’s messy break-up made headlines in 2002, with rumours also following that she had started dating co-star, Vivek Oberoi. His wounds still fresh after the break-up, Salman was cast as the protagonist in the 2003 film, Tere Naam. Popular Bollywood lyricist Sameer Anjaan, who was also part of the team, said in an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, that the actor’s real-life break-up greatly helped him portray the role of an obsessive lover whose heartbreak leads to a life of tragedy. Sameer Anjaan also shared that Salman would listen to the Tere Naam title track and cry. The lyricist said:
“We didn’t write the title track of Tere Naam with Salman Khan in mind. But after his breakup with Aishwarya Rai, the song became his personal anthem of heartbreak. Before filming scenes for that song, Salman would call Himesh Reshammiya, ask him to sing it, and then break down in tears.”
