Aamir Khan confirmed that he had said that Dangal must have been sent by his rivals
Aamir Khan, in Aap Ki Adalat show, admitted that he had once said as a joke that Dangal must have been sent by his contemporaries, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, to end his career. Aamir, who had mostly portrayed characters in their 30s-40s in previous films, had essayed the role of an elderly father. So, Aamir said that he had meant it as a joke to the director, Nitesh Tiwari, that his rivals might have sent the role of Dangal to him, to show his ‘reality’. The actor said:
“Maine kaha Nitesh ji (director of Dangal) iss waqt kya hai ki logo ko badi galat-fehmi hai, unko lagta hai ki main 30-35 ka hun, aur aap jo film bana rhe hai agar main kar lu to meri asliyat unke saamne aa jaygi. To iss lihaz se maine mazaak mein kaha tha ki aap logo ko Salman-Shah Rukh ne to nahi bheja, isko dangal do phir isko out kar dete hai, isko hatao yaar.”
