Aamir Khan To Start Working On ‘Mahabharat’ From August, No Known Faces, ‘Entirely New Cast..’

Aamir Khan is known as a meticulous actor, as well as a filmmaker. He has produced, written the screenplay and also directed numerous films that have been box office successes for the most part. However, one of the most ambitious projects of Aamir that he has often talked about is a film on the Hindu epic, Mahabharat. Recently, as the teaser of Ramayana, another mythological-based film, has been garnering a lot of love from the audience, Aamir has announced that he will start working on Mahabharat from August 2025. He has made major revelations about the cast as well.

Aamir Khan says the production of Mahabharat will begin in August

Aamir Khan revealed in an interview with Screen that he is ready to work on Mahabharat and will commence in August 2025. Since it is the longest poem ever written and incorporates generations of stories, Aamir’s Mahabharat is going to be a franchise and not a singular film. He further stated it would be a series with back-to-back films. The actor also called the epic ‘dangerous’ since it carries sentimental value for the public. However, Aamir also expressed that the story is in his ‘blood’ and he needs to tell it and hence would start working on it. In the interview, the actor was quoted as saying:

“Well, I’m starting work on it in the month of August. It will be a series of films. It’ll be back to back. Because you can’t tell the Mahabharat in just one film. And you know, the Mahabharat is very dangerous. It’s again a story which is in my blood. No one can do anything about it. I need to tell it. So I’m starting work on it.”
