Air India Plane Crash: Cabin Crew, Maithili Patil’s Dad Breaks Down Says, ‘Bhagavad Gita Rakhti Thi’

A few days back, netizens on social media were shocked about a miracle that came into the limelight after the Air India plane crash that took place in Ahmedabad. Around 260 people were killed, but an intact hard copy of the Hindu religious text, Bhagavad Gita’, remained undamaged, despite intense heat and fuel burning in the aircraft that left bodies charred. Now, it has come to light that the ‘Bhagavad Gita’ belonged to cabin crew member, Maithili Patil, who lost her life in the tragic Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash. Her father, Moreshwar Patil, broke down narrating how his daughter was a Krishna bhakt.

A sea of pain has taken place in the Nhava village of Uran Taluka in Navi Mumbai as news came of Maithili’s death. Her father, Moreshwar, in an interview with BBC Hindi, was inconsolable as he lost his ‘kaleje ka tukda’. Her family’s financial conditions were not that great. Her dad had to leave his work as he was unwell. Due to this, the responsibility of the entire family fell on her. A Krishna bhakt, Maithili used to carry an idol of Lord Krishna and the Bhagavad Gita with her on every flight. Her grief-stricken father shared:

“Maithili ki dost ne meri patni ko phone kia aur bataya ki hamari beti crash huei viman mei thi. Meri beti Bhagwan Shri Krishna ki sachi bhakt thi aur woh hamesha apne saath Bhagwad Geeta rakhti thi. Uske bahut sapne thei. Woh kehti thi papa aap akele sab kuch nahi sambhal paoge, woh pure parivar ko sambhal ti thi.”
