Amitabh Bachchan recalls his terrible singing for Mere Angne Mein in Lawaris

In one of the latest episodes of his quiz-based reality show, Kaun Banega Crorepati 15, Amitabh Bachchan recalled an anecdote from his 1981-film, Lawaris. Well, it so happened that during an audio question in the show, the iconic song, Mere Angne Mein from the film, was played. While Big B looked embarrassed for the computer to play the song, he nevertheless asked the question related to it to the contestant. While the contestant picked the correct answer for the question, which is that the actor is the singer of the song, Amitabh narrated how he ended up actually singing the song in the movie. He mentioned:

“The actor is the singer, and what a bad singer. My father used to play the drum and sing this song on Holi. This film (Laawaris) was made by director Prakash Mehra. He also made Zanjeer. He came up to me one day and said, hey, Amit, give me this song. I asked him what he meant by that. He then explained that he wanted to use the song in his film, and I said sure, why not! He then said, you will have to sing it. I told him, I can’t. Phate huye baans jaise, I am a very bad singer. I cannot sing. But he was persistent that I sing it the way I do at home. That’s how it was included and I sang it with great difficulty.”
