The cult classic film, Andaz Apna Apna, released in 1994, has set a benchmark in the history of Hindi film cinema. Despite not performing well at the box office, its unforgettable characters, hilarious storyline, iconic moments and an ensemble of actors who became superstars has made the film hold a special place in the hearts of fans. However, the journey of making this film wasn’t easy. Salman and Aamir have often admitted that they were not fond of each other during the filming of Andaz Apna Apna and waited for the filming to end. At the same time, rumours about conflict between lead actresses, Karisma and Raveena broke the headlines. In a new interview, the film’s costume designer, Ashley Rebello, shared an instance about the same.

Andaz Apna Apna has recently been re-released in cinemas after three decades, and amid this, the film’s costume designer, Ashley Rebello, recently sat down for a conversation with India Today. He revealed that he used to work with Preeti Sinha’s father, Vinay Kumar Sinha, during the early 90s and designers in those days worked in coordination with the producer, director, and actor. The designer shared that his first task was designing a nightgown for Raveena Tandon’s song, Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Duri. Recalling the time, he said:
“I remember the first thing I designed a nightgown for Raveena Tandon for the song ‘Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Duri’, and for that, I did two or three outfit changes for her as the sequences were spread across different parts of the night.”
