Veteran actress, Aruna Irani was born into a filmy family as her father was a renowned stage actor, and her mother was a film actress. She had to give up her studies when she was in the sixth standard as her father didn’t have enough money to educate his children. Aruna Irani first acted as a child artist in the 1961 film, Ganga Jamuna after she was discovered by Dilip Kumar. Post that, there was no looking back for her.
Aruna Irani acted in over 500 films in Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati. She holds the record for most nominations in the Best Supporting Actress category. Aruna has an array of films to her credit like Farz, Bobby, Fakira, Sargam, Love Story, Rocky, Beta, Suhaag and many more. In her later career, Aruna switched to television and took up character roles.
