Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, the beloved B-town couple, are currently leading the headlines. Widely known as ‘DeepVeer,’ they are celebrated as one of Bollywood’s most influential and beloved power couples. They often showcase their love in public and express admiration and respect for each other in both their personal and professional spheres. The duo is almost inseparable, and fans loved it. However, recently, Deepika revealed the time when they had to maintain a distance between them. As her comment went viral, her husband, Ranveer’s, contradictory statement surfaced.
Why did Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have to maintain distance between them?
Early in their relationship, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh frequently starred in the same films (e.g., Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat). In a January 2026 chat with Pinkvilla, Deepika reflected on how it felt “strange” and required effort to “disconnect” from their identity as co-stars once they began working on separate projects, such as Ranveer’s Gully Boy. Deepika felt these emotions after Padmaavat, probably because by then the duo was almost certain they wanted to spend their lives together. Notably, 10 months after the film’s release, the couple tied the knot. Talking about their professional separation, Deepika mentioned:
“He’s always been supportive of my work, and it’s actually a bit strange because when we met, we were doing films together, and then his first film post-Padmaavat was actually Gully Boy. So it felt different for me to be like ‘Okay, now you’re doing a film and I’m not in it’ and then, I had a release in which he wasn’t there. So it took some time to get used to that because our first interaction with each other was as co-stars. It took us a while to disconnect from that and be able to understand each other as actors, without being in that film.”
