Garrett Crochet was born on June 21, 1999, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. His journey from dreaming of playing in MLB one day to being the ace arms-race centrepiece of the Boston Red Sox is genuinely inspiring. Crochet became an impressive pitcher during his time at Ocean Springs High School back in 2017. Courtesy of his remarkable potential, Crochet was selected in the 34th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. Surprisingly, instead of joining Milwaukee, Crochet decided to attend the University of Tennessee.
Garrett Crochet’s MLB journey so far: From Mississippi dreams to Boston’s USD 170 million ace pitcher in MLB 2025
During his university days, Garrett Crochet served as a pitcher for three seasons. Although he indeed spent most of his time in the bullpen, he even served as a starter for his University’s junior team. After years of struggle and making an impression at the University of Tennessee, the Chicago White Sox came calling at his door. In the 2020 MLB Draft, the White Sox drafted him in the first round, and he made his major league debut as a relief pitcher after the team won its first postseason berth in September 2020.
