George Springer was born into a family of baseball enthusiasts on September 19, 1989, in New Britain, Connecticut, US. While his grandfather served as a pitcher at the collegiate level, Springer’s father played in the Little League World Series. As a result, baseball has been a part of Springer’s life since his childhood days. During his time at the University of Connecticut, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 48th round. Still, Springer chose to be with his university team, which spoke about his character from his early baseball days.

During his time with Connecticut, George Springer was bestowed with the Freshman All-American and Big East Conference Baseball Player of the Year awards. It was in 2011 when the Houston Astros recognised his talent and selected Springer 11th overall in the MLB Draft. In 2013, the young right fielder won the Player of the Year award in the Texas League. The following year, he made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros and was named to the Topps All-Star Rookie Team for the 2014 season.
