Govardhan Asrani, fondly known as Asrani, passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness. He was 84. His last rites were performed at Santacruz Crematorium. The veteran actor has been part of the industry for over five decades and he is known for his impeccable comic timing and expressive performances, he appeared in over 350 films. Asrani’s last film, Haiwaan with Akshay Kumar was his last project and Akshay Kumar is heartbroken after the death of Asrani.
Akshay Kumar is speechless after Asrani’s death
Asrani, died on Monday October 20, 2025 after a prolonged illness. Akshay Kumar and the veteran actor Asrani have starred together in a number of films, with many of them being popular comedies including Bhool Bhulaiaya, Welcome, Bhagam Bhag, Deewane Huye Paagal, Hera Pheri, and Khatta Meetha. Asrani will appear alongside Akshay Kumar in two films directed by Priyadarshan Bhooth Bangla and Haiwaan. Following news of his death, Akshay wrote:
“Bahot pyare insaan the he had the most legendary comic timing. From all my cult films Hera Pheri to Bhagam Bhag to De Dana Dan, Welcome and now our unreleased Bhoot Bangla and Haiwaan…I had worked and learned so much from him. What an absolute loss to our industry. God bless you Asrani Sir, for giving us a million reasons to laugh. Om Shanti.”
