Kajol Speaks About Her Parents, Tanuja And Shomu Mukherjee’s Separation, ‘I Questioned It..’

Kajol is a popular actress in Bollywood who comes from a filmy family with deep roots in Indian cinema. Her mother, veteran actress, Tanuja and her father and late filmmaker, Shomu Mukherjee, met on the sets of Ek Baar Muskura Do and love soon blossomed between them. They tied the knot in 1973 and welcomed two daughters, Kajol and Tanishaa. Things were going well between the couple for a few years, but they decided to part ways shortly after Kajol’s younger sister, Tanishaa’s birth, which left their elder daughter stunned. In a new interview, Kajol shared her views about it.

Kajol appreciates her parents for managing their separation in a ‘mature’ way

Kajol, who is on a promotional spree for her upcoming film, Maa, recently sat down for an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit. During the conversation, she opened up about the rarely discussed topic of her parents’ separation and praised them for handling it with grace. At the same time, the actress revealed that despite differences, her parents chose to prioritise her and her sister’s wellbeing, which is commendable. In her words:

“I have to give kudos to them. My parents were very clear on one point that it does not matter if we are separated or not, but we will always be there together for you. The decisions we make for you will always be made together. We could not play them against one another.”
