Now, the Tamil star is making headlines after his controversial remark at the audio launch of Thug Life. A pro-Kannada group has also made a police complaint against the actor. What was the controversial remark made by Kamal Haasan?
On May 25, 2025, Kamal went to the audio launch event of his upcoming film, Thug Life in Karnataka. During the event, the Tamil actor was sharing the stage with Kannada actor, Shiva Rajkumar. Kamal started his speech by saying a Tamil phrase, “Uyire Urave Tamizhe”, which means “My life and my family is Tamil language”. Then he went on to say that actor, Shiva Rajkumar and his family live in another state. Addressing Shiva, Kamal said that “Kannada was born out of Tamil”. This remark sparked a widespread debate, and the actor landed in trouble. In his words:
“Uyire Urave Tamizhe. Actor Shiva Rajkumar is my family living in another state. That’s why he is here. That’s why when I started my speech, I said, my life and my family is Tamil. Your language was born out of Tamil. So you are included in that line.”
