Taku Yamamoto was also an active member of the Liberal Democratic Party, which is now led by Sanae Takaichi. Before assuming the role of the spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan in 2025, he had served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2021. Yamamoto had also served as the Vice Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries under the Shinzo Abe government. As per reports, Yamamoto’s brother used to work as a parliamentary aide under Sanae Takaichi, which consequently made their paths cross.
