Shreyas Santosh Iyer, popularly known as Shreyas Iyer, is a right-handed middle-order batter of the Indian cricket team. He scored a century in his Test match debut and became the first Indian to achieve the milestone. He captained the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL from 2022 to 2024. He was also named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month twice in 2022 and 2025.
Shreyas is leading the headlines currently after he suffered a fatal rib injury and was rushed to a hospital in Sydney. It so happened that during the third ODI match, Shreyas, who took a catch while running backwards from backward point, hurt his left rib cage. He had dangerously low body vitals after the fall and could have suffered a splenic rupture because of the internal bleeding.
