Satish Shah’s old emotional confession on not being ‘good-looking’ as a hero went viral
In a 2023 interview with CNN-News18, the Sarabhai vs Sarabhai actor shared that his appearance, rather than helping his acting career, actually made it harder for him to find roles. Satish mentioned that after he graduated from FTII, filmmakers often cast actors based on strict physical types that made them look like heroes, villains, or comedians. However, the veteran was unfit for any such roles. He was quoted as saying:
“When I came from FTII, there were certain things actors were categorised into, and I didn’t fit in any of these. I was too tall and well-built to be a comedian, had too soft a face to be a villain, and wasn’t conventionally good-looking as a hero. So my struggle was the worst. People mistook me for everything else but an actor.”
