In a recent conversation with Karan Johar on the show, We The Women of Mojo Story, Smriti Irani unveils a deep secret attached to the popular daily soap opera, Season 2 of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Smriti revealed that season 2 was scheduled to happen back in 2014. For the uninitiated, in 2014, Smriti was appointed Minister of Human Resource Development by India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Smriti shared that when the makers planned to develop Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2, they approached her. However, as she had to serve in the Indian parliament as a cabinet minister, she had to step down from the project. In her words:
“If you look at the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi journey in totality, the most well-kept secret about it was I had a contract to do it again in 2014, and I walked away from it because I had to serve in the Indian Parliament as a cabinet minister. The set was ready, but there was a phone call from the Prime Minister’s office that you have to take an oath.”
