A recent incident took place, where a newlywed bride couldn’t take it anymore and ended her life, due to alleged torture that came on her for dowry, even after she gave gold and an expensive car to the groom.

A 27-year-old woman, Ridhyana from Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu committed suicide, reportedly due to torture from her husband and in-laws. Daughter of Annadurai, Ridhyana, reportedly got married only two months ago. Annadurai, who runs a garment company, allegedly had given a Volvo car worth Rs. 70 lakh and 800 grams of gold with 100 sovereigns as dowry for the wedding of his daughter, and 28-year-old Kavin Kumar. According to reports by News18, Annadurai hosted a grand wedding celebration that cost Rs. 2.5 crore, including 300 gold sovereigns. Reportedly, another 200 sovereigns were promised from the bride’s side to the groom’s.
