Sunil Dutt and his darling wife, Nargis were known to have been one of the most evergreen couples of the decade. The duo fell in love while doing their film, Mother India together and ended up tying the knot in 1958. They shared an amorous relationship and stood beside one another through thick and thin. However, their journey of togetherness was cut short when destiny planned for Nargis to leave the mortal planes on May 3, 1981. Here’s a small throwback anecdote from the time when Nargis battled for her life against cancer, and how her husband, Sunil Dutt stood like a strong pillar of strength all the time.
Sunil Dutt refused doctor’s advice to remove Nargis from life support when she slipped into coma
Nargis Dutt was all healthy and hearty and was successfully serving her political career as a member of the Rajya Sabha when she suddenly fell ill and it was reported that she suffered from jaundice. But having conducted various tests, it was analysed that in fact, she suffered from pancreatic cancer. Upon learning her condition, Sunil Dutt had wasted no time to take her to the US for treating her in a cancer speciality hospital, where unfortunately, her health deteriorated and she slipped into coma. After multiple attempts, when her doctors had given up on restoring her to life, they had suggested removing her from the life support system. However, the doting husband, Sunil, had simply refused to budge on the advice and never gave up on her.
