And now, Sushmita opened up about an unheard challenge in her life, where her choice to prioritise her motherly duties once indicated at the end of her professional career.

During a recent conversation with Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Sushmita Sen recalled a vivid anecdote from her life, where she had to choose between her motherhood and professional career. She revealed that there was a time when she was shooting in Canada for a film, which starred superstars like Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. As everything was set, she highlighted how she got an urgent call from her family to be back home, since her daughter, Renee was unwell and hospitalised. Sharing how she dealt with so much pressures back then, Sushmita mentioned:
“Renee was not very well when she came into my life, she had a medical condition, a very severe one. So, I’m filming all the way in Canada with Akshay and Kareena, and it’s a multi-star cast, dates taken for Canada, and I have this pressure. People as it is are saying she’s not going to take her career seriously because now at 24, she has become a mother. So, I have a point to prove. I must be there on time, I must do my job, no complaints.”
