Sony SAB’s iconic show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah completed 15 years in 2023. However, to this date, it is one of the most loved and watched television sitcoms in India. One of the most prominent characters in the show was ‘Dayaben’, played by Disha Vakani. But after giving unmissable performances for many years, she bid goodbye to the show in September 2017 for her maternity break and never returned. Since then, TMKOC makers have been searching for a perfect actress who can portray the role but have not found someone suitable. Amidst this, rumours about the show getting off-air also surfaced in the media.
Asit Kumarr Modi states the hunt for ‘Dayaben’s’ character is underway, dismisses rumours of TMKOC going off-air
Finally, Asit Kumarr Modi issued a statement to dismiss all such rumours about the show going off-air and also talked about the ongoing hunt for ‘Dayaben’s’ character. As reported by TellyChakkar, Asit clarified that TMKOC is not going off-air, and he would continue entertaining his audiences. He mentioned that even though it takes a lot of time, the character will be back onscreen soon. Asit’s statement read as:
“I’m here to entertain my audience and I will never lie to my viewers. Only due to certain circumstances, we are unable to bring Daya’s character back on time. But, that does not mean that the character is not going to enter the show at all! Whether it is Disha Vakani or someone else, the time will tell. But, it’s my promise to the audience that Daya will be back, and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is going nowhere. It is not an easy task to run a comedy show for fifteen years. It is one of a kind, which has not witnessed a single leap.”
