Diljit Dosanjh, who recently made India proud at Coachella and Met Gala, has now found himself in a new controversy which has sparked nationwide backlash. It stemmed after the release of his latest film, Sardaar Ji 3‘s trailer, which stars Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir amid escalated Indo-Pak tensions due to Pahalgam attack which has created an uproar in the country. Although the film will only be released overseas, there is resentment and the FWICE has now demanded the makers of Diljit’s upcoming film, Border 2, to drop the actor.
Diljit Dosanjh may or may not get dropped from Border 2
After the trailer release of Sardaar Ji 3, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) publicly urged the makers of Border 2 to drop Diljit from the cast. They highlighted how it is ‘unacceptable’ for the actor to lead in a patriotic film while simultaneously working with a Pakistani actress. The discussion sparked contrasting news reports. According to a highly placed source of the Hindustan Times, the makers have no plan to remove Diljit Dosanjh. Since he was cast almost 9 months ago when there wasn’t any tension between India and Pakistan, a significant part of the film has been shot, and changes can’t be made. It stated:
“There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from Border 2. The announcement about his casting was made almost nine months back before any of the unfortunate situations had happened. Almost 40-50 per cent of the film’s shooting has already been done, so making any change at this point is not possible.”
