Not just them but even their families serve the nation in silence by letting their loved ones go on their duty to protect the nation. One such story is that of Captain Akhilesh Saxena and his wife, Shikha Saxena, which is filled with courage, deep love, and extraordinary sacrifice.
Akhilesh Saxena wrote an emotional ‘last letter’ to his wife, Shikha Saxena
It all goes back to 1999 when Captain Akhilesh Saxena was just 24 and tied the knot with his wife, Shikha Saxena, who was 23 years old. He was called to the battlefield during the 1999 Kargil War, barely a month after marrying Shikha. Being an artillery officer, he led important attacks near the Line of Control (LoC) in the most challenging situations. This difficult time strengthened his relationship with Shikha who awaited his return. When, in June, the dead bodies of soldiers who went to the Kargil War were brought back, Shikha who had no way to contact Akhilesh was filled with negative thoughts but faced the situation with bravery.
